Project description:
Greenland and the Faroe Islands face an unpredictable convergence of geopolitical risks, yet their civil preparedness systems are limited and teir conditions for societal resilience and risk planning are underexplored. This project examines how the governance systems of the Faroe Islands and Greenland navigate civil preparedness during turbulence. It uses rare access to the Faroese national risk assessment process, allowing real-time ethnographic study of civil preparedness policymaking, and comparing this with the Greenlandic approaches. The goal is to enhance national risk governance strategies in both countries and contribute to the scientific discussion on crisis governance and risk planning in small island states.
